A beautiful sunny day brought a lot of visitors to the Friends Cafe Day on the 21st of October. They were entertained by stirring performances by the City of Sheffield Pipe Band who played two sessions in the Spillway, with the sound of the bagpipes and drums travelling the length of the Park. The band then gave an impromptu serenade at the Visitors Centre to the kitchen volunteers who had missed hearing them earlier.
There was also the popular Fungi Walk round the Park led by local expert Ziggy who once again demonstrated his wide knowledge by identifying the dozens of fungi discovered along the walk.
Rotherham Hospice had a stall selling their Christmas merchandise and raised over £200.
Raffle prizes were won as follows:- Plant – Barbara Lenthall, Quality Street – Kath Webster, Biscuits – B. Ellis, Gloves and scarf – A Laley, Body Wash – J. Laley, Soup Bowl – J. Tillery
Thanks to Ziggy and the City of Sheffield Pipe Band for providing such good entertainment and helping make the day such a success.
