The Scaup has left Ulley

February 04, 2018 − by Admin − in Uncategorized − No Comments

Mike Smethurst photographed a Scaup on the water at Ulley, which is the first time one has been recorded here in recent years. The Scaup has now left Ulley, presumably on its way back to its breeding grounds in Iceland or North Scandinavia, but not before Mike took a wonderful photograph of the Scaup in full winter plumage.

There are normally  no more than 4 or 5 recorded sightings of a Scaup in South Yorkshire  each winter so this has been a rare and welcome visitor to the Park.

Thanks to Mike for sharing  his sightings of the Scaup
