The Friends have started a project to refurbish the bird feeding area next to the Russ Howes bird hide which has looked a bit overgrown in recent months due to a tree having fallen across the area.
The Voluntary Rangers, together with John Jackson, spent a morning clearing the area and making an access path to the bird feeders. The plan is to create an interesting wildlife habitat with an easy way into the area to keep the bird feeders well supplied with seed. Hopefully this will encourage more birds to use the feeders and provide an interesting feature for visitors to the Park.
The Friends have a team of Voluntary Rangers that carry out small maintenance jobs in the Park and give support to the Council Rangers. If you would like to get involved and be part of the group please ring Paul Nash on 01709 370797 for more details.
