The weather improved for the Friends Cafe Day, after a very dismal week, and Brian Brookes provided a large range of garden plants for the popular plant stall. Julia Forrest also brought a selection of homegrown plants and the stall raised nearly £175 for the Park. Brian gave his expert advice to many of the visitors buying plants.

In a new event at a Cafe Day, there was  a display of Tai Chi by Bobbie Hillman’s group led by David Lipka in front of a large audience, many of whom joined in with David as he went through the exercises.

 

The Cafe was well attended, despite the alternatives offered by Father’s Day, and visitors enjoyed the homemade refreshments after a pleasant walk in the Park in some reasonable weather.

The raffle prizes were won as follows:- Plant – Colin Allen, Lager – Kath Webster, Chocolates – Jeff Blades, Wine – Pat Dyson, Coffee set – Georgia Wood, Towels – Pauline Fellows.

The Friends are grateful to Brian, Julia and David for their massive contribution to another successful Cafe Day.
