Dan Sidley from the Yorkshire Swan Rescue Hospital was at Ulley this week on one of his regular visits to monitor birds in the park. He records the species, sex, age, weight and size of any birds caught and tags them to help monitor any change in the bird population. Visit Dan’s blog to find out more about his excellent work www.birdringer.blogspot.co.uk
Dan has also visited the park when swans have been in trouble, rescuing one swan from the bottom level of the spillway last year. The Friends were very pleased to make a donation to the Yorkshire Swan Rescue Hospital to help fund their work which is mainly carried out on a voluntary basis.
