Hottest ever Cafe day for Encore and Plant Stall

It was probably the hottest ever weather for the Friends Cafe Day on Sunday 16th of June and local choir Encore had to sing under the shade of the trees in the Spillway! There was another very enthusiastic audience for a performance in the lovely surroundings of The Spillway.

The excellent weather meant another well attended Cafe Day and the Garden Plant Stall run by Brian Brookes with help from Terry Jones was very popular once again. There was also a display of photographs about the Flood of 2007, prepared by Barbara Littlewood and Margaret Butler which received a lot of interest from visitors, was it really 10 years ago!

The raffle prizes were won as follows:- Tea set – Lillian Lidgett, Wine – Margaret Scapes, Biscuits – Emma Hanan, Toiletries – Colin Allen, Cider – Kathie Hall, Plant – Marion Brassington.

Thanks to everyone involved in making the Cafe Day so successful, especially Encore and Brian Brookes for giving their support. Also, special thanks to all the Friends volunteers who carried out their duties in such stifling heat!
