The Princess Royal visited Ulley Country Park on Wednesday the 11th of May to officially open the renovated Visitors Centre. The visit was arranged by Ulley Sailing Club, who made tremendous efforts to ensure the day went well, and included activities on the water by Wickersley school. The Princess had a brief walk in the Park to see the new spillway constructed after the flood in 2007 and then met the various groups involved at the Park, including members of the Friends Committee, before unveiling a plaque to mark the occasion.
The event was very successful despite the cloudy weather and the Princess Royal was extremely interested in the activities of the Friends Group, particularly the monthly Cafe Days and the many projects we have implemented over the years.
A copy of The Story of Ulley Country Park, written by Russ Howes, was presented to Her Royal Highness and she left Ulley proudly carrying the book, obviously looking forward to reading more about the Park!
More photographs of the event will be on the website soon.
