Visitors to the Park may be aware that occasionally swans have been in need of assistance. Sometimes cygnets get trapped at the bottom of the spillway and swans have also been injured on the reservoir. Often the Rangers can deal with the problem but on a number of occasions they have had to call out the Yorkshire Swan Rescue team to provide help. The team are based near York and operate on a voluntary basis so the Friends Committee have agreed to make a £50 donation to thank them for the help and assistance they have provided at the Park. The photographs below show a recent rescue of a swan trapped at the bottom of the spillway and safely released back onto the reservoir. Thanks to Yorkshire Swan Rescue. Visit their website www.ysrh.org.uk for more details of their excellent work.
