Very popular Family Day at Ulley

The Friends held a very successful Family Day at Ulley Country Park on the 16th of July with a range of events that attracted a lot of visitors. In The Spillway, the Animal Magic party was very popular, giving children an opportunity to hold and feed some exotic animals. Also, James Brunt gave an enthralling display of stone balancing, joined by several keen helpers.

There was a sheepdog display arranged by Chad from BWD dog training, supported by farmers Graham and Roy, that drew large crowds although some of the sheep were not too obedient!

The Park Manager Kevin Burke held pond dipping sessions and at the Visitors Centre there was an observational beehive with Monica Coates and a moth trap brought by Mike Smethurst.

All these events were much enjoyed by the visitors, as were the refreshments in the Friends cafe.

Raffle prizes were won as follows:- Plant – Pauline Davies, Towels – Christine Bell, Biscuits – Nigel Walker, Mugs – Alice Middleton, Paint a pot – Pat Middleton, Glasses – Phil Snook, Food boxes – Helen Drabble

A big thank you from the Friends to everyone who helped make the Family Day such a success.
